After the gorge, you want to see Taos. John parks in town and you walk around the Plaza. Because you are here on a business day, there aren't many tourists around. You walk into some interesting shops and look at clothing, trinkets, rocks and gems and you even find a nice bookstore. Soon you are tired and decide to head back home.
John gets on the highway south. This time you are driving along the Rio Grande instead of the High Road through the mountains. This is a much faster trip. Of course it is close to dinner now, so John suggests dining at Embudo Station. You agree that an early dinner at a table next to the gently flowing Rio Grande would be nice. There is no trouble finding a table at this time of day, and you sit beneath the colorful shade trees and let your troubles drift away with the flow of the river.
